• To produce skilled clinical microbiologists who deliver precise diagnostics and infection control for optimal patient outcomes while promoting innovative research and integrated training for post graduate students.
• To impart knowledge and practical skills in medical microbiology to produce competent clinical microbiologists.
• To provide structured training in bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, immunology and molecular diagnostics with emphasis on clinical correlation.
• To train postgraduates to lead and support hospital infection control, antimicrobial stewardship and to collaborate with clinicians, infection control teams for surveillance of communicable diseases and emerging pathogens.
• To empower our community with timely, accessible, accurate diagnostic services and provide clinical expertise in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of microbial infections.
• To function as a nodal centre for hospital infection surveillance, outbreak detection and implementation of evidence-based infection control measures.
